Three Wee Kings: Grandad’s Cut
by Paul Morris – adapted and directed by Charles Nowosielski
A comedy drama for Children age 5 upwards and Families – with live original music.
Aug 2 – 13 at 15.00 – 16.00 (1hr)
and 15 – 19 at 19.00 – 20.00 (1hr)
This utterly charming take on the Christmas story of the Three Kings is indoors mid-afternoon for two weeks and then an evening performance in the third week.
Rather than the three wee boys in the original playlet by Paul Morris, it contains three old codgers chewin’ the fat while sheltering inside a disused church.
Disturbed from their musings by a rotten old caretaker and a young pregnant couple: the appearance of a goody two shoes sets the scene.
Sounding familiar? It should.
It’s a gloriously funny new angle on the Christmas story. Honest family fun with live original music and weatherproof inside the kirk.
From Primary Times Review
The story is essentially the traditional nativity story with a pantomime flavour. It is entertaining both from a comedic point of view but also from watching good acting within beautiful surroundings – perfect venue for this production.
Throughout the show there is organ music and beautiful singing from Maria and also some very amusing songs such as “Ye cannae shove wee Danny off the bus”, one about what you can buy with a diamond, the anti-Christmas song and Harold’s Lullaby.
Quotes from previous reviews of Theatre Alba’s work:
Three Weeks 4/5 Stars ****
…the show is an absolute firecracker; hysterically and consistently funny.
