TO THE CROSS
THEATRE ALBA
The numbers wishing to witness Theatre Alba's production of TO THE CROSS, The Passion of Jesus Christ, which is to be presented in the grounds and village of Duddingston on Easter Sunday, the 23rd March, have already grown to over 300.
The play (which is not to be confused with a pageant or re-enactment) is based on the Gospels, the poetry of Michael Justin Davis and original writing from Theatre Alba's director, Charles Nowosielski.
13 professional actors including, Keith Hutcheon, Suzanne Dance, Simon Tait, Anne Lannan, Helen-Marie O'Malley and Anna Guthrie are joined by leading amateur actors Roger Linton and John McColl, children from Theatre Alba's Dunbar Youth Group, members of Alba's Adult Leisure Group and some 40 persons from various parishes in Edinburgh and East Lothian.
The play opens in the majestic grounds of Duddingston Kirk and then meanders it's rugged path through the village of Duddingston and back into the Kirk grounds for a final and memorable Crucifixion. For the first time, the production will include a Resurrection scene, down by the Lochside.
The music, a vital and integral part of all productions pertaining to Theatre Alba is, in this case directed by JOHN SAMPSON who is joined by some five others, most notably RICHARD CHERNS who has written and directed most of music for Alba for the 27 years of it's existence.
The Play is FREE but limited to the first 900.
